The Liberal junior varsity tennis team joined a round robin tournament in Cimarron Tuesday.
The other teams at the tournament were Cimarron, Garden City and Dodge City.
Results were as follows:
No. 1 singles player Jesse Piper went 2-1 for the day and received second place.
No. 2 singles player Madison Martinez was 1-2 for the day and received third place.
No. 1 doubles team of Vicky Calderon and Marissa Rodriguez were 2-1 for the day and received second place.
No. 2 doubles team of Ana Gonzalez and Yolanda Garcia were 2-1 for the day and because of a tie they received third place honors.
“It was a hot day and everyone seemed sluggish,” Liberal JV coach Lynn Knowles said. “But our girls were able to come out on top most of the time. I am proud of how they didn’t quit and how they conducted themselves on the court.”
