Clyde A. Smallwood, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born March 28, 1924, to Everett and Osie (Lee) Smallwood in Matador, Texas.
He married Ruby Helm Feb. 17, 1946, in Memphis, Texas. She survives.
He served in the Army in World War II and had been awarded two Purple Hearts. He was a gas plant operator with Northern Natural Gas for 33 years.
He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the D.A.V (Disabled American Veterans).
Other survivors include two daughters, Judy Harlow and husband, Gary, Liberal, and Shelle Troutner, Liberal; one brother, Herbert Smallwood and wife, Evelyn, Matador; one sister, Dolly Robinson and husband, Alvia, Arroyo, Texas; four grandchildren, Teri and husband, Edward Mangold, Keri Harlow and Michael and Chris Troutner; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan and Gina Mangold and Sierra Harlow
He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Wayne Smallwood, and one brother, Jess Smallwood.
o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Prater presiding.
Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery with military honors given by American Legion Post No. 80.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday with the family present to receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.
