HOOKER, Okla. – Leo Gottfreid Steinle, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at his home.
He was born Nov. 1, 1921, toGottfreid Fredric and Katherina E. Marie Herbel Steinle on the family farm south of Hooker.
He married Sue White Sept. 28, 1964, in Hooker, Okla. She survives.
He attended school in Hooker and helped on the farm.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He farmed with his brother, Kelly Steinle.
He enjoyed waterskiing and boating, traveling to California, South Texas and Arizona and reading western novels, especially Louis L’Amour.
Other survivors include one daughter, Jackie Clutter and husband, Dennis, Hooker; two grandchildren, Jeff Herald and wife, Kathy, and Sheree Dobbins and the late Paul Dobbins, Amarillo, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Brent, Grace, Ema, Peyton, Trevor and Kesleigh; his nieces and nephews, Katherine McGrew and husband, Terry, Robert Steinle, Kenneth Steinle and Norma Jean Riley and husband, Danny.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kelly; and five sister
s, Viola Gebhard, Emma Dietz, Thresa Steinle, Esther Harland and Dorothy Sellens.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Hooker with Matt Richardson and Richard Dent presiding.
Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery.
