Obituary

ULYSSES – Evelyn Louise Woods, 79, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Dec. 18, 1930, to James Thomas and Elnora May (Goldsmith) Parks in Osage City.
She married Walter Benjamin Woods Jan. 2, 1952, in Plainview, Texas. He died Dec. 10, 1990.
She graduated from high school in Utica.
She and Walter owned and operated Walter Woods Custom Combing for more than 35 years. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church of Ulysses.
She loved her family and enjoyed being with them.
Survivors include one son, Wade Scott “Pete” Woods, Ulysses; one daughter, Wilma Louise Handley and husband, Terry, San Antonio; three brothers, Kenneth Wayne Parks and wife, Lila, Holyrood, James Leonard Parks and wife, Betty, Ellsworth, and Charles Robert Parks and wife, Barbara, Topeka; two stepdaughters, Pat Crowe, Fort Worth, Texas, and Linda Edmonson, Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Tamara Handley, San Antonio, Evelyn Prendergast, Honolulu, and Scott Woods, Ulysses; four great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gordon Lee Woods; two brothers, Marvin Lee Parks and Eugene Warren “Pat” Parks; and one sister, Henrietta Belle Holmes.
o Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Pastor Bill Harrold presiding.
Friends may sign the register from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grant County Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to either the KU Enowment/Gordon L. Woods Scholarship Fund or Parkview Assisted Living of Ulysses and may be mailed to Grant County Funeral Home, 218 S. Main, Ulysses, KS 67880.
