Donald Ray Worthey, 69,  died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Via-Christi Regional Medical Center – St Francis, in Wichita.

He was born Oct. 25, 1943, to Donald Harrison and Evelyn Marie (Forseman) Worthey in Olney, Ill.

He married Shelby Jean Boston Feb. 11, 1961, at Xenia, Ill. She survives.

He owned W. J. Drilling, in Xenia, then worked for Wes-Kem, Inc., where he served as operations supervisor, until 1995.

He was a member of Central Christian Church in Liberal.

He was a member of the Xenia Volunteer Fire Dept. and a city councilman. He was superintendent of 38 foster children over the years at Cookson Hills Christian School, in Syracuse.

Other survivors include two sons, Criss Allen Worthey and wife, Nancy, Kismet, and Michael Wayne Worthey and wife, Jeanne, Crawfordsville, Ind.; one daughter, Sandra J. Lloyd, Tampa, Fla.; one brother, John Worthey, Flora, Ill.; three sisters, Sue Worthey Moriel, Tornillo, Texas, Judy Colclasure, Flora, and Shirley Mullens, Plainsville, Ind.; four grandchildren, Charley Worthey, Madlyn “Maddy” Worthey, Mikale Bell and Kristen Bussey; and one great-grandchild, Wendy Bell.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Worthey and Richard Dean “Rick” Worthey.

o Memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, at Central Christian Church, in Liberal, with Charley Worthey, Ron Davis, and Pastor Chuck Scroggs presiding.

There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place.
