Lindon Burl “L.B.” Courtney, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born June 20, 1927, to William Alfred and Lottie Seletha (Suttles) Courtney in Paris, Ark.

He married Judith “Judy” Clarice Stutevant June 3, 1967, in Liberal. She survives.

He had attended school in St. Paul.

He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947. He was a self-employed contractor owning Lucky Lindy’s Construction and had worked for Rush Construction, Morris Atkinson Construction and Johns Construction.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a life member of the V.F.W.

Other survivors include two sons,  William Lindon Courtney and wife, Kathy, Sheridan, Wyo., and Joseph “Jody” Harvey Creason III, Tyler, Texas; two daughters, Linda Irene Courtney-Cromer and husband, Roy, Greendale, Ind., and Donna Lynn Apsley and husband, Travis, Liberal; four sisters, Verla “Inez” Gudde, Olathe, Una “Ginny” Rumberg, Wichita, Doris Jean Keith, Beaverton, Ore., and Sandra “Sandy” Courtney, Beaverton; seven grandchildren, Joseph Harvey Creason IV, Rachel Elaine Creason, Heather Courtney Warfield and husband, Steve, Valerie Courtney Barnes and husband, Daniel, Taylor Courtney Apsley, Jordyn Lynne Apsley and Eryn Nichole Apsley; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan Samuel Barnes, Jesse Daniel Barnes and Sophia Courtney Warfield, Ayla Catherine Warfield and Asher Garrison Warfield.

He was preceded in death by parents, six brothers, Jerry, Winifred, Vernon, Coy, Roy and Ray Courtney, and one sister, Irene Courtney.

o Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Liberal Cemetery with Pastors David Bagwell Loren Robinson presiding.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with the family present to receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
