Harold Leissler Riney, age 98, beloved son, husband, father and friend, died at Lindale, Texas, nursing home on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, following a brief illness. Harold was born January 24, 1915, near the town of Temple, OK, to the late William Edward Riney and Ethel Mae Crow. He attended public schools in and around Wichita Falls, Texas. Harold graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1958 where he received a diploma in Theology. After Harold’s marriage to Ada Mozell Armstrong in Temple, OK, on December 24, 1934, he and Mozell lived and pastored various Southern Baptist churches throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Colorado, including Wichita Falls, TX, Davidson, OK; Ft Worth, TX; Tyrone, OK; Shidler, OK; Ozark, AR; Forgan, OK and Pueblo, CO. He retired from the ministry in the 1979 and later re-entered full time ministry at Kamay, TX retiring for the last time in 1989. Harold lived with Mozell in Edmond, OK, near their daughter, Jeretta Hays, during their retirement until 2002, at which time they moved to Omaha, NE with their youngest son, Jim Riney and wife, Diane. Harold remained living near his son, Jim, until 2010, at which time, he returned to Texas and resided in a retirement center near his oldest son, Hal Riney and wife, Kay. Harold remained mentally alert and enjoyed conversation and stories of the past until a few days prior to his death. Harold and Mozell celebrated 71 years of marriage until her passing in 2006. Harold is survived by two sons, Hal and Kay Riney, Jim and Diane Riney, and one daughter, Jeretta Hays. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a sister, Molly Goff, and son-in-law Kenneth Hays. Harold was also survived by either birth or marriage a total of 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of friends. While he will be missed by those who remain, we rejoice in his reunion with his bride, Mozell. A private burial will follow in Hastings, OK.
