Seward may have stumbled out of the gate to open the Jayhawk West schedule, but they have worked their way back to the top.
Seward lost to Barton in the Green House Jan. 5 while the Hutchinson Blue Dragons opened the Jayhawk West Conference by winning 10 straight.
The Saints lost to Hutchinson Jan. 30 to fall two games behind the Blue Dragons, but have since reeled off four straight wins to move to 10-2.
Hutchinson has hit a losing streak.
The Blue Dragons lost on their home court to Butler Saturday and then lost on the road at Barton Wednesday.
The two losses dropped Hutchinson to 10-2, tied with the Saints.
Hutchinson’s road in the next three games is easier than Seward’s. The Blue Dragons will play Colby (3-10), Pratt (4-8) and Cloud (6-7) while the Saints will have to face Dodge (5-9), Butler (8-4) and Garden (2-11).
If both teams can win those three without losing, the Jayhawk West championship will take place between Seward and Hutchinson Feb. 27 in the Green House.
