GARDEN CITY – Geraldine Berniece White, 100, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
She was born May 24, 1912, to William and Estella (Garten) Bratcher in Protection.
She married Donald White May 24, 1946, in Liberal. He died Nov. 26, 2003.
She graduated from Protection High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Okla.
She was a home economics teacher at Liberal High School.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
She loved to travel with her husband and spending summers in the mountains of Gunnison, Colo., and winters in the desert of Mesa, Ariz.
Survivors include sister, Maxine Clark Jones, Garden City; grandchildren, Craig, Overland Park, Kevin, Springfield, Mo., and Scott Maturey, Moore, Okla.; and son-in-law, Mingo Maturey, Overland Park.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Lana Susan Maturey, and brothers Felton and Orville Bratcher.
• Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Randall presiding.
Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
