William “Bill” D. Green, 66, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at his home in Elbert, Colo.
He was born Dec. 26, 1943, in Liberal.
He married Connie Headrick Aug. 2, 1969.
He then married Anne Stewart Jan. 25, 1999. She survives.
He attended Liberal schools, graduating from Ponca Military Academy in Ponca City, Okla., in 1962.
He served in the United States Army with deployment in Germany and received an honorable discharge in 1967. After returning home from the service, he began farming in the Kismet community. In 1978, he became the associate pastor of Joy Fellowship Church in Hays. He founded Love Fellowship Church where he was the senior pastor for three years. His mission work continues today in Africa, where he started Greenview Christian School for young children with Bill Green Ministries.
He enjoyed ministering to local residents, spending time on the ranch, mission work and raising horses.
Other survivors include three children, Angela McKenna and husband, Tom, Andover, Aaron Green, Parker, Colo., and Andrew Green and wife, Amy, Olathe; three stepchildren, Morgan Musser and husband, Matt, Little Rock, Ark., who are currently serving in Iraq, Jessica Stewart, Santa Maria, Calif., and Jamie Stewart, Elbert, Colo.; five grandchildren, Austin, Katie and Aubrey McKenna and Ella and Hudson Green; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
o Memorial service took place Monday at Elbert Christian Church at 23894 Broadway St. in Elbert followed by burial at Elbert Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bill Green Ministries, P.O. Box 303, Elbert, CO 80106 to continue serving the Greenview School of Africa.
