After starting the Jayhawk West season 0-3, the Lady Saints have pulled even after winning the second half of a double header against Garden City Thursday and sweeping Barton Friday.
Brittney Sharkey pitched a five-inning one-hitter in the first game against Barton County Friday to help Seward win an 8-0 shutout in a run-rule shortened game.
The Lady Saints took advantage of five Lady Cougar errors and added 10 hits in the win.
Rachel Shockley went two-for-three and scored two runs in the win.
In Game 2, Barton took an early one-run lead in the second inning, but the Lady Saints responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning then took a lead with a five-run third inning.
Barton attempted to rally in the top of the fourth by scoring three and forcing Seward coach Andrea Gustafson to pull Brittany Hopkins off the mound and put Sharkey in the game.
Sharkey was able to get the final out of the inning, and the Lady Saints erupted for five more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take an 11-4 lead.
Barton added two more runs in the sixth but could not get any closer. Seward won 11-6.
Michelle Duford went two-for-four, scored three times and racked up three RBIs in the win.
Seward (20-14, 3-3) will host Colby Wednesday.
