Daily Leader staff report

Five Saints scored in double figures Saturday to help Seward County knock off Coffeyville 93-90 in the Jayhawk Shootout.

Donte McCarter led the way with 19 points.

Seward was hot in the first half, shooting 66 percent form the field including eight of 12 from the three-point line.

The Saints jumped out to a 55-43 halftime lead.

But the Ravens would claw their way back in the game in the second half by slowing down the scoring of the Saints  and limiting shot opportunities.

But the Saints were able to hold off the Coffeyville rally late for the 93-90 win.

Seward nearly dropped the game with free throw shooting, only hitting 50 percent form the line for the game.

But the Ravens didn’t shoot too well, either, only hitting 62 percent of their free throw opportunities.

In addition to McCarter’s 19, Jon Tassin scored 18, Marky Nolen had 15, Latiq Agard scored 14, and Tony Smith scored 13.

The Saints (12-3, 2,0) will travel to Pratt Wednesday to return to Jayhawk League West action.
