Southwestern Heights traveled to Cimarron April 5 for a varsity tennis tournament and finished second.
Dalton Holmes finished third in No. 1 singles. He lost to Meade’s Ryan Friesen, 6-2, and defeated Ulysses’ Edvin Martinez, 6-3, and Larned’s Steven Seltman, 7-5.
In No. 2 singles, Tucker Thorp finished third. Thorp lost to Meade’s Garett Blehm, 6-3, but defeated Ulysses’ Rodrillo Dillon, 6-1, and Cimarron’s Austin Metcalf, 6-4.
Richard Navarette and Ashton Lee combined for a third place finish in No. 1 doubles. The duo lost to Meade’s Dalton Wiens and Micah Harder, 6-3, but defeated Ulysses’ Jason Borthwick and Ryan Anthony, 6-4, and defeated Cimarron’s Kaleb Neuschafer and Jesus Mendoza, 6-1.
Hugo Reveles and Alberto Ponce teamed up to No. 2 for a third place finish. The duo lost to Meade’s Noah Martin and Lelan Delissa, 7-6 (7-4), but defeated Ulysses’ Braden Scott and Braden Deyoe, 6-4, Cole Birney and Alberto Araiza, 6-3.
The four third place finishes were good enough for a second place overall finish.
