It was a tale of two wins for the Turpin Cardinals who took both ends of a doubleheader from the Beaver Dusters in very different ways. Turpin won Game 1 in a seesaw battle that saw rallies by both teams end in a 12-9 win for the Cardinals, and then a dominant performance in Game 2 for a 10-1 win.

After taking a 9-5 lead in the top of the third, Beaver looked to be in good shape heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. But consecutive balk called against the Dusters’ pitcher brought home the first of seven runs. Eric Bromlow hit a 2 RBI single to bring the Cardinals within one (8-9), and Erik Rojas singled to left to bring home the tying run.

Jake Jimenez then hit a 2 RBI single with two outs to give Turpin the lead. Kyler Musgrave doubled in the last run of the rally that put Turpin up 12-9.

Beaver’s lead off hitter in the fifth got on, but Musgrave, who came in to pitch in the fifth struckout the next three batters to end the game. Jordan Lujan got the win.

Matt Young got things started for the Cardinals with a 2-run double that gave Turpin a 2-0 lead heading into the second inning.

Beaver used three hits and four Turpin errors to score four runs in the second to take the lead.

Turpin fired right back in the bottom half of the second with three runs to retake the lead 5-4.

But Beaver had their best inning of the game in the third. Gunnar Lansden started the inning with a double and later scored. Chayce Davidson hit a 2 RBI double to put the Dusters up 7-5 with just one out. Beaver added two more in the inning to go up 9-5.

Both teams were shutout in their next at-bats, before Turpin’s seventh inning rally put the game away.

Game 2 was dominated by the Cardinals an ended in the fourth, 10-1.

Kyler Musgrave got the Cardinals going with a 2 RBI triple in the bottom of the first as Turpin took a 3-0 lead.

Turpin scored four more off of three hits and three hit batsman in the second.

Beaver got their only run of the game after Jordan Jesko walked and later scored on a passed ball in the top of the third.

Jordan Lujan doubled and scored in the third. It was Lujan’s third hit of the game and third run scored. Two batters later, Musgrave hit his second triple of the game and scored his third run of the game as well to put Turpin up 10-1.

Eric Bromlow pitched a complete game, giving up just four hits and no earned runs.

Turpin’s Kyler Musgrave finished the doubleheader 6-6 with two triples, a double, and five runs scored. Jordan Lujan was 4-5 with two walks, a double, and six runs scored. Erik Rojas was 3-3 with three walks and two runs scored.

For Beaver, Gunnar Lansden finished 4-5 with a double and a run scored.

Beaver is scheduled to host Tyrone today, weather permitting. Turpin will host the Bobcats Thursday.
