PLAINS – Margaret Laura Miller, 97, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at her home.

She was born to Kit and Emma Dykes in Coldwater.

For years, she taught several grades of school in a two-room schoolhouse in Copeland.

She is survived by sons, Joe A. Miller (Lana), Plains, and Chris O. Miller (Marlena), Colorado Springs, Colo.; her daughter, M. Carol Blackwell (Whilden);  a sister, Louise Cox; and her grandchildren, Lea Blackwell, Tina Blackwell, Margaret Jewell Blackwell, Jason Miller and Jennifer Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Alfred W. Miller; a brother, Warren Dykes; and three sisters, Marjorie Yanson, Betty Youngblood and Fern McVey.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Plains, with the Rev. Keith Schadel presiding.

Burial will follow at the Copeland Cemetery.
