HUGOTON – Harold E. Swagerty, 87, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at his residence in Hugoton.
He was born March 2, 1926, to Benjamin Franklin and Ella May (Webb) in Elkhart.
He married Verda Ruth Kamper Nov. 16, 1947, in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
He was a member of First Church of God, Masonic Lodge, VFW and 2nd Indian Head.
Other survivors two sons, Arden Craig Swagerty, Moore, Okla., and Emery Varnell Swagerty, Liberal; daughter, Janell Jean Summers, San Angelo, Texas; sister, Alice Mae McKinney; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Swagerty, sister-in-law, Helen Swargety, and brother-in-law, Chuck McKinney.
• Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Church of God, Hugoton, with Pastor Richard Martin and Pastor Terry Worthington presiding.
Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Paul’s Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of God, Hugoton.
