ABOVE: After enjoying some barbecue, children take to the swing sets and slides in the back of Stepping Stone Shelter Sunday afternoon at the Spring Sing Barbecue Thing fundraiser. For more photos of the event, see PAGE 3A.

While some choose to eat indoors, others choose to dine outside and get some fresh air at Sunday’s Spring Sing Barbecue Thing at Stepping Stone Shelter. Shelter director Pat Allsbury called the event a “huge success.” “We served more than 120 meals and had lots of music and singing from lots of local talent in the back yard,” she said. “The Kindle Fire went to Jennifer Featherston of Hugoton, and the 42-inch flat screen TV went to George Hall of Liberal. We look forward to the ninth annual in the spring of 2014.” Courtesy photos
