Friday afternoon, 26th Judicial District Coroner Dr. Hubert Peterson announced the deaths of Jose Angel Rodriguez, Jr., 36, and his wife, Alicia Rodriguez, 39, were determined to be a murder/suicide.

“We are dealing with a murder/suicide,” Peterson said. “The wife was asphyxiated or smothered with a pillow and her husband lying beside her in the bed had a Skil saw, it is small saw like the carpenters use. He cut his legs inside of the thighs, the lower thighs – deep – completely down to the femur and then proceeded to exsanguinate. He completely bled out, honestly.”

When asked if Jose Angel Rodriguez, Jr. did in fact kill his wife prior to taking his own life, Peterson said, “Yes.”

“The pillow was right there by the side of her and you could see the imprint on the pillow,” he said. “She was covered with a comforter.”

Peterson also said Mr. Rodriguez had left a note to his children, stating he and his wife were out of town on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez were discovered deceased in their home at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday at 1233 Krause Court.
