Day 1 of the 1A-2A Oklahoma State Track & Field Championships saw several locals move onto Saturday’s finals and also saw two locals finish with state medals.

Kalen Gabel of Beaver took home the silver in the shot put with a toss of 49’-7.5”. Kameron Hall of Forgan finished second in the high jump with a leap of 6’-2”. Tyrone’s Cole Wall finished seventh.

Kenzi Taylor of Forgan finished sixth in the high jump (5’-2”) with Texhoma’s Ann E Freeman taking the gold.

Turpin’s Annalynn Kirkhart qualified for the 100 and 200 meters. Jaylee Mays of Balko qualifed for the 400 meters.

Freddie Baeza of Turpin qualified for the finals in the 400 meters.

The Tyrone boys 4x200 meter relay also qualified for Day 2’s finals.

In 2A, Hooker qualified all four boys relay teams for the finals.

After Day 1, the Texhoma boys are in third place, eight points behind first place Velma-Alma.
