Reaching the Region 6 tournament at Lawrence Dumont is almost a foregone conclusion for Galen McSpadden and the Saints.

So how does the 2013 edition compare to past teams?

“One temperature gauge you can use is the energy, attitude, and people not wanting to go home,” McSpadden said. “This group does not indicate anyone wants to go home yet.”

The chance to qualify for the national tournament is still in front of the Saints, and McSpadden knows just how rare that experience can be.

“It is getting to the stage where everyone you go to now is special,” he said. “You never know which will be the last. It is one more opportunity to have an experience of a lifetime at the JUCO World Series.”

The winner of the Region 6 tournament will qualify for the NJCAA College World Series in Grand Junction Colo., and the team that can string together four straight wins will earn the ticket.
