After winning 14 straight games to dominate last season and start strong this year, the Royals struggled down the stretch and ended the year with a 12-1 loss to the Cardinals.
While the Royals saw a reversal of fortune, the Cardinals saw their season improve from last year. The Cardinals finished 4-6 year ago but added four more wins to their total in 2013.
Syris Dunlap dominated on the mound for the Cardinals Tuesday.
Dunlap struggled slightly in the third, but a rare double play ended the chance for a big inning for the Royals, and the Cardinals coasted to the win.
The White Sox had the advantage over the Cardinals by virtue of margin of victory for the league title.
The teams will now divide into age divisions and prepare for district play.
