Geraldine “Gerry” Kivett, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Fowler Nursing Home.
She was born June 7, 1918, to Francis and Lydia M. Langhofer Biehler in Herrington.
She married Harry L. Kivett Aug. 10, 1939, in Herrington. He died Oct. 18, 1988.
She graduated from Ramona High School in 1936 and attended nurses training at Halstead.
She was a cook at the Chuck Wagon for several years, and was a homemaker for the SRS Office for many years and later was activity director at Liberal Good Samaritan Center.
She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Liberal Garden Club and the True Friends Club.
She cared for many elderly people in Liberal.
She is survived by one son, Eugene Kivett and wife, Cathleen, Baldwin; three daughters, Mary Carochi and husband, Richard, Florence, Colo.; Jeri Ann McCall and husband, Charles, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Lydia Podrebarac and husband, Louis, Fowler; one brother-in-law, Paul Letzig, Blackwell, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Edgar Kivett, one brother, Warren Biehler, and one sister, Maciadine Letzig.
o Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Miller Chapel.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. James P. Dieker presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie, Fowler Residential Care or Fowler Library in care of Miller Mortuary.
