HUGOTON – Walter Rex Hittle, 93, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton.
He was born on June 9, 1919, to William and Eva (Palmer) Hittle in Barber County. She survives.
He married Velma McMillan on Dec.11, 1941, in Boise City, Okla. They were married 71 years.
He was a farmer and rancher.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Hugoton.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and traveling.
Survivors also include four sons, Bill Hittle and wife, Linda, Hugoton, Bob Hittle and wife, Diana, Hugoton, Jim Hittle and wife, Connie, Hugoton, and Steve Hittle and wife, Cindy, Rolla; one sister, Lorraine Jorboe, Topeka; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fred, Charles and Alvin Hittle; and two sisters, Dorothy Emerson and Geraldine Florey.
• Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Hugoton, with Minister Matthew Russell presiding.
Burial will be at the Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Church of Christ.
