The Lady Mustangs wasted no time putting the Leoti Indians away, winning 80-39.
"I always like it when we come ready to play," said Barry Mellen. "I think Leoti was tired from an overtime game the night before, but we came out focused."
Heights jumped out to an early lead and led 24-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Mustangs increased that lead in the second and led 50-20 at the half.
"Our first five looked great, they were very solid," said Mellen.
After three, Heights led 69-27, and subs played most of the second half.
"Our second wave (subs) as we call them, came in and did a great job as well."
Deni Jacobs led the Lady Mustangs with 19, as 10 different players scored. Heidi Brown hit three from beyond the arc and tallied 15, Lindsay Garinger had 9 points, and Kathy Eakes and Sheree Ryan each scored 8.
The Lady Mustangs advanced to the semi-finals, and will face four-seed Syracuse who defeated Lakin 48-43.
"They (Syracuse) was a little banged up when we played them the first time," said Mellen. "They will be excited to play us, so we'll need to be ready."
Tipoff will be Thursday at 8 p.m. at Garden City Community College.
