USD 480 takes care of contract renewals PDF Print E-mail

The Monday USD No. 480 School Board meeting dealt with many items that gained unanimous approval.

Workers compensation renewal from EMC in the amount of $299,115, an increase of $39,317 dollars from last year was approved 6-0, with one absence.

Krono’s Equipment and Software Support, a program used by time clocks in USD 480, was approved. The current software and equipment support expires Sep. 20, and renewal is for $23,674. The rate of these services is the same as last year, but during the 2012-13 school year, USD 480 received a discount based upon the implementation date of the program. Thus, USD 480 only had to pay for 274 days instead of 365 last year.  Motion to approve software passed 6-0.

“Aims Web,” a program that is used for progress monitoring of math skills for students in the SIT process, was also approved 6-0. The program is also used for gifted students as well as those students that are successful. Rural and low income school grants will pay for it. The recommendation approved for $14,920.

Two copiers located in South Middle School have reached the 2 million copiers mark and need to be replaced. A motion of purchasing two copiers for $21,552 from Southern Office was approved 6-0.

“Success for All” is a contract that McDermmot Elementary School plans to continue using during the 2013-14 school year. The program is their version of “Literacy First.” Funding would come from the general fund in the amount of $9,000 and Title 3 funds in the amount of $1,250 for a total of $10,250. The recommendation was approved 6-0.

The Early Learning Communities Agreement for 2013-2014 ELC integrated classroom at Washington preschool between USD 480 and Kansas Head Start was also up for discussion. A motion was made to approve the contract for integrated classroom, and it passed 6-0.

Next item dealt with was Faculty Use Fees and Waivers. By approving a schedule, the board’s actions don’t have to act upon each request for a waiver. The motion passed 6-0.

It was also decided that South Middle School band cabinets are to be replaced for new ones and Liberal High School will be buying 12 laptops for the science room.

Heartspring Student Services contracts were approved for 2013-2014. The contract for two students are renewable and they are to be reviewed by the district attorney.

The next organizational educational meeting will be July 8.
