Barbara Joyce (Smith) Leggett, 80, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in Allen, Texas.
She was born March 29, 1933, to Donnie Barron (Ted) and Mabel Carl Smith, in Amarillo, Texas.
She married Redden Llewllyn Leggett Jr. Nov. 16, 1955.
She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1952.
She spent her early career working in the payroll section for the U.S. Air Force. She later began working for Thurman-Wilson Insurance Agency, eventually obtaining her agent’s license.
She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a member of the Red Hat Society, and a member of the Waterview Church of Christ in Richardson, Texas.
She enjoyed crafts and reading, as well as cooking and eating, especially Italian food, and pretty much any dessert.
She is survived by her son, Dewey Leggett and wife, Gina, Fairview, Texas; her sisters Betty Young and husband, Bill, Humble, Texas, and Beth Brown, Phoenix; her grandchildren, Lindy and Luke Leggett, Fairview, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was also preceded in death by her parents Donnie and Mabel, and three brothers, Herbert, Hobart, and Herman (aka Charley).
• A memorial service was at 2 p.m. today at the Church of Christ in Hooker, Okla.
Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery.
