PLAINS – Edward John Amerin, Jr., 58, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Plains.
He was born Dec. 10, 1954, to Edward and Josephine (Gertner) Amerin in Meade. 
He married Mary Meier Nov. 22, 2003, in Liberal.  She survives.
He attended the Plains school system, graduating from Southwestern Heights High School in 1973. 
After his graduation, he began his career as a farmer.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Plains. 
He enjoyed his cats, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors also include his mother; four brothers, Larry Amerin and wife, Leigh Ann, Plains, Ray Amerin and Jennifer, Plains, Gerald Amerin, Plains, and Robert Amerin and wife, Caralee, Plains; four sisters, Mary Rhoads, Edmond, Okla., JoAnn Wells and husband, Larry, Fowler, Dolores Amerin, Plains, and Margaret Rentenia  and husband, Jesse, Clovis, N.M.; 30 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Paul Amerin and Leonard Amerin; and a sister, Mary Joan Amerin.
• Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Plains. 
Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Liberal.
Burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery.
Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade. 
Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
