MEADE – Donald L. Rees, 78, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.
He was born March 4, 1935, to Clarence and Mabel (Winters) Rees in Rich Hill, Mo.
He married Esther M. Eckhoff on May 18, 1958, in Meade.  She preceded him in death.  
He attended the Rich Hill school system, graduating from Rich Hill High School.  
After his graduation, he joined the United States Army, serving for several years. 
He worked for the City of Meade for forty years in the Electrical Department and later the Parks Department.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Meade.  
He enjoyed model trains, hunting, fishing, feeding the squirrels at the city park, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by daughter,  Darla Sue Stegman and husband, Alva, Hooker, Okla.; two brothers,  Paul Rees and wife, Shirley, Canon City, Colo., and Duane Rees and wife, Dixie, Humboldt; two grandchildren, Ryan Stegman and wife, Tanya, Pampa, Texas, and Cody Stegman, Hooker; and four great-grandchildren, Dalton, Bryston, Brooklynn and Rylee Stegman.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; son, Kelly Don Rees;  and brother, Clovis Rees.
• Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Meade, with the Rev. Lynn E. Spencer presiding.  
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  
Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Memorials are suggested to the Beam Senior Center or St. John Lutheran Church Building fund, in care of the funeral home.
