Curtis Lee Brooks, 59, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit.
He was born Nov. 24, 1953, to Alfred (Sam) Brooks and Gwendolyn June (Hockensmith) Brooks in Liberal.
He attended Southwestern Heights and graduated from Liberal High School. He also attended Vo-tech and studied horticulture and drafting in Liberal.
He became a business partner in Hooker, Okla., with “Structural Designers.” He was a building contractor in southwest Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle.
He is survived by his his mother, June Brooks; sons, Justin Brooks, Wichita, Joshua Brooks, Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers, Perry Brooks and wife, Pat, Kismet, Trent Brooks and wife, Paula, Hooker, Okla.; sisters, Trena Slater and husband, Keith, Sublette, Tonya Thompson and her husband, Orb, Plains; and three grandchildren, Shay Brooks, Max Brooks and Andrew Greener.
He was preceded in death by grandparents; his father; brother, Jerry Vee Brooks; and many beloved friends.
• A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Hooker, Okla., with Rev. Les Bussell presiding.
Burial will be in the Hooker Cemetery.
