Elkhart – Virginia L. Arheart, 88, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the Morton County Care Center in Elkhart. She was born March 12, 1925, to Gerald F. and Elsie (Johnson) Griggs in Falun. She married Robert L. Arheart March 9, 1947, in Delphos. He survives. She graduated from Delphos High School and Emporia State University. She began her work career as a mail carrier. She then taught english in Elkhart High School for 38 years, and was later the school librarian until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Elkhart and served as a Sunday school superintendent. She sang for church and funeral services. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Other survivors include two sons, Kristopher Arheart, Miramar, Fla., Robert S. and wife, Marcala Arheart, Liberal; one daughter, Suzie Davis, Wichita; one sister, Jeanette Bergsten, Peoria, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. • Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Elkhart with Rev. Dennis Reimer presiding. A private family burial will follow at a later date in Delphos.
