Eugene L. “Gene” Graber, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Nov. 18, 1923, to Jerry and Annie Stoll Graber in Liberal.
He married Marion F. Bundy July 28, 1946, in Peabody. She survives.
He graduated Liberal High School in 1942.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked with his father at Graber Service. He later bought the business in 1961 and operated until retiring in August 2008.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Fargo Lodge No. 300, Wichita Consistory and Midian Shrine.
He enjoyed his family and friends, sports, gardening and working in his yard.
He is also survived by one son, Tom Graber and wife Kim, Columbia, S.C.; one daughter, Carol Bruce, Nashua, N.H.; eight grandchildren, Leslie Bois and husband, Jeff, Ashley, Lindsay, Brandon and Ryan Bruce and Kyle, Lauren and Sara Graber; and two great-grandchildren, Preston and Ella Bois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mae Koehn.
o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Randall presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery with military honors.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller Mortuary.
