JOHNSON – George C. Fira, 31, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, in Garden City.

He was born Sept. 26, 1978,  to Fidencio V. “Fred” and Mary (Correa) Fira in Johnson.

He attended school in Johnson.

He was employed with a harvest crew.

He enjoyed playing football and soccer.

He was a member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson.

Survivors include his mother; one son, Ivan Fira, Garden City; one daughter, Cassie Fira, Garden City; two brothers, Henry Fira and Andy Fira; five sisters, Ofelia Elliott, Celia Fira, Mary Alice Fira, Alice Gonzales and Mary Ann Fira; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Fidencio Fira Jr.

o Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson, with the Rev. Trong Binh Tran presiding.

Memorials are suggested to the George C. Fira memorial fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 715, Johnson, KS 67855.
