Two big runs, both spearheaded by Samuel Becker, and stout defense throughout the game were the difference as Beaver defeated Hooker, 42-27.

"It was a good defensive game for us," said Dusters coach Brian Stalder. "We made a nice run at the start of the third that really put the game away."

Beaver led 27-16 at the break, and outscored the Bulldogs 12-5 in the third to move the lead to 18 heading into the fourth. There was no wild comeback on the fourth quarter agenda with the two teams combining for only nine points.

Beaver also started the game in good fashion and led 15-6 at the end of the first. The second quarter was Hooker's only quarter in double figures with 10, but Beaver still increased their lead, and led 27-16 at the break.

Neither team shot well from the charity stripe with the Dusters making 9 of 18, and the Bulldogs only making 4 of 10.

Becker led the way for the Dusters on the offensive end of the floor scoring 10 of his game high 20 in the first quarter. Becker was 3 of 3 from three-point range, and 5-of-11 from inside the arc. Four other Dusters scored 4 points each.

Hooker's struggling offense had no one that reached double figures. Payson Slater led the Bulldogs with 8 points, and Brian McCann had 6.

Beaver will travel to Texhoma Friday, and Hooker will play at Guymon.
