Obituary

ELKHART – John Edward West, 57, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, in Oklahoma City.

He was born Nov. 23, 1945, to John Henry and Leora Opha (Horn) West in Guymon, Okla.

He was a truck driver and a cowboy.

He enjoyed spending with his family; especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, barbequing and NASCAR racing. He rode bulls in his young years.

Survivors include his daughter, Natasha Forbes and husband, Brice, Elkhart; one brother, Jerry West and wife, Shelia, Lubbock, Texas, Peggy Culver and husband, Gene, Guymon, and Belinda West, Lubbock; five grandchildren, Chandra Shopteese, Ethan Shopteese, Julian Forbes, Austin Forbes and Wyatt Forbes; special friend, Shirley Hale, Hugoton; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joe Marie Buse.

• Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Morton County Civic Center, Elkhart, with Terell Gidden presiding.

Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Paul’s Funeral Home.
