Don’t like a grade? Keep taking test until you do! E-mail

By Robert Caraway of Liberal

I am interested in the new grading system proposed by Eli Svaty and others.

If I understand it, if I’m not happy with my grade, no problem.  I can retake the test until I am.

Let’s translate this into what I do after I graduate.

Suppose I become a doctor and Mr. Svaty comes in with appendicitis. Will he be happy if I keep performing surgery and taking stuff out until I get it right and get the appendix?

Suppose I am a mechanic and Mr. Svaty comes in with his car which has no brakes. Will he be happy if I keep working on his car and giving it back to him until I get it right and fix the brakes?

Let’s suppose I go to the work for the school system and I make out his check. Will he be happy if I keep shorting his check until I get it right?

I could go on, but I think the point has been made.
