Liberal High School hosts the last of its back-to-school parent meetings this evening, from 7 to 8:30 Tuesday at the LHS auditorium, with all parents of 10th- and 11th-graders invited to attend.

The meeting will present information about the many programs in place at LHS, designed to improve student performance and raise the graduation rate; four-year plans to keep students on track; college preparation; and the hot issue of competency-based grading.

While parents, administration and staff meet at LHS, the school principal Keith Adams will appear at the USD 480 school board meeting across town, to discuss the high school's “Framework for Grading” policy. Board members and the public have expressed concerns about the new LHS policy, which falls in line with new, “competency-based” grading trends in education.
