MEADE – Daisy F. Evans, 93, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Meade District Hospital.
She was born April 25, 1916, to Bismark and Nancy (Farley) Kelly in Beaver, Okla.
She married John T. Evans in 1934 in Liberal. He died March 30, 1965.
She attended school in rural Beaver County, graduating as valedictorian from Beaver High School in 1933.
After the death of her husband, she attended Brown Mackey Business School in Salina.
She was a secretary at Fort Dodge, working there until her retirement.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Dodge City.
She enjoyed playing Duplicate Bridge, bowling, and horse races.
She is survived by one son, Gary Evans and wife, Carol, Plains; six grandchildren, Eric, Hilary and Andrew Evans and Shannon, Darrin and Bridgitt Francis; and five great-grandchildren.
She was alsopreceded in death by one daughter Carmen Francis; three brothers, Homan “Smokey” Claude, and Clyde Kelly; and three sisters, Muriel Kelly, Ila June Spalding, and Mavis Kelly.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary Chapel in Meade, with Pastor Andrew Evans presiding.
Burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery.
Friends may call until 7 p.m. today with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Beam Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
