Liberal seemed to be in control moments before the end of the first half. The Redskins had a 20-17 lead after erasing a 16-14 deficit.

But Dodge City caught fire in the final seconds of the half to take a 21-20 lead and shot out to a 14 point lead in the third quarter. The end result was a 58-40 loss for the Redskins in the Big House.

“We didn’t play very hard,” Liberal coach Drew Gruver said. “We had too many turnovers. We’ve struggled with that all year. It’s hard to win when you turn the ball over. It’s my fault for not having them ready. We will watch the film and get back to work tomorrow.

Jade Cathey led the Redskins with 13 points, Kowan Russell had 12, and Justin Andrade scored nine.

Liberal will host Great Bend at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
