• We the People
A We the People meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. today at Vargas Cafe, 111 W. 15th in Liberal.
As many members know, the group was formed to help educate the public on issues of the city, county, state and federal government.
There are several issues that could be of interest to local and area residents and members are busy formulating an agenda for presentation.
One very important issue to all and, especially, land owners, is the possibility of listing the Lesser Prairie Chicken on the endangered species list. If this listing were to be approved, it could have a great effect on Seward County and its residents, both rural and urban. It is important that everyone’s voice be heard on this issue. The Seward County Commission will be determining possible funding for this issue at its Oct. 7 meeting.
The recent recall of elected officials in Colorado is also important, how and why it happened.
There are several other things being considered at this time.
An election is coming in 2014 and we are already starting to hear from candidates. We will be updating those as well. Come early, be informed and enjoy a little Mexican food.
