Queen candidates, attendants prepare for LHS 2010 Homecoming PDF Print E-mail

Liberal High School authorities have announced the attendants and queen candidates for their 2010 Basketball Homecoming Friday.

The freshman attendant is Gaby Galan. She will be escorted by her parents, Eugeno and Norman Galan. Gaby participates in cross country. After graduating high school, Gaby wants to begin her degree in the medical field at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School, then she wants to study at the University of Kansas and become a pediatrician. After graduating from KU, Gaby wants to move to Corpus Christi, Texas, so she can run next to the shoreline. When, Gaby gets enough money, she wants to go to the moon.

The sophomore attendant is Morgan Eichman. Her parents are Ruben Eichman and Cindy Gilmore, and she will be escorted by her brother, Zac Moon. Morgan’s future plans are to attend Seward County to pursue her associate degree, then head off to Oklahoma State University to complete her degree in special education. Morgan enjoys dancing – she has been dancing since she was 3. Morgan enjoys listening to music, she loves to spend time with her brother, sister and her three nephews. When Morgan is not with her family, she likes to be pampered with a manicure, pedicure and massage. Morgan also enjoys shopping and hanging with friends.

The junior attendant is Erica Fowler. Her parent’s are Robby and Teresa Fowler, and she will be escorted by her uncle, Troy Williams, and her mother, Teresa. Erica’s future plans are to attend college to be a veterinarian, then get settled and start a family. Erica’s hobbies include playing the piano, hanging out with friends and family. Erica is also involved in school activities, such as Redskin Singers, cheerleading and bowling.

The first senior candidate is Kayla Varnes. Her parents and escorts are Mike and Joyce Varnes. Kayla’s future plans include attending Emporia State University, and she wants to major in elementary education. Kayla’s hobbies are running, playing basketball, reading, playing games and spending time with family.

The second senior candidate is Nakita Martinez. Her mother and escort is Marviel Vega. Nakita’s future plans are to go to votech and major in cosmetology, and she eventually wants to own her own salon. Nakita likes to shop, text and hang out with friends.  Nakita also loves singing and listening to music.

The final senior candidate is Lorie Jayde Rine. Her parents are David and Janie Rine and the granddaughter of Leon and Billie Tabor and Naomie Rine, all of Liberal. Her escorts are her parents, David and Janie. Lorie’s future plans include to attend college at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Okla. Lorie is actively involved in LHS Art Club, Science Club, Yearbook, National Honor Society and is Vice President of Student Council. Lorie has maintained a 4.0 grade point average all four years of high school and was listed as a KU Honor Scholar this year. Lorie attends church at Western Avenue Church of Christ. Lorie holds a second degree black belt in karate and enjoys teaching 2- to 5-year-olds in the Kid Kicker Program.

The flower girl is Jensen Wesley Mettlen – named after her Papa Brinkley. Jensen is 7 years old and in the second grade at MacArthur Elementary. Jensen’s parents are John and Traci Mettlen. Jensen has a 12-year-old brother, Jacob, and a 10-year-old brother, Joel. Jensen’s favorite toys are Zhu Zhu pets, her favorite food is pizza and her least favorite food is peas and fish. In Jensen’s spare time, we can catch Jensen finding the perfect outfit and shoes while jamming out to Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. Jensen also loves going to grown up lunches with the girls and playing with her puppies. Jensen interests include gymnastics with Lorie Greenlee, AWANA at First Southern Baptist Church, and dancing at Dance Images Dance Studio. Jensen’s favorite subject is art and she wants to be a dance teacher when she grows up.

The crown bearer is Cody Rolan Bremenkamp. Cody is 6 years old and is in kindergarten. Cody’s parents are Jerry and Michelle Bremenkamp. Cody has a sister, Emily. Cody’s favorite toys are monster trucks and legos. Cody’s favorite food is chicken McNugget's and French fries and his least favorite is mixed vegetables. Cody’s favorite past time is working on tractors and playing Wii, and he is also interested in motorcycles. Cody’s future plans include building a house in the country to live in.
