MEADE - Ruth A. Hantla, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade.
She was born Feb. 25, 1924, the daughter of Arthur Sidney and Susie Goldie (Williams) Peterson, at Council Grove.
She married Willis LeRoy Hantla Oct. 2, 1944, at Wichita. He preceded her in death.
She attended the Council Grove school system, graduating in 1941.  She later attended beauty school in Wichita. 
After her schooling, she moved to Meade in December 1941, and began her career as a cosmetologist.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Meade, for 67 years. 
She enjoyed playing bridge, the violin, traveling, attending church functions and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Brian Hantla, Meade, Troy Hantla and wife, Sharon, Wichita; five daughters,  Gayla Yingling and husband, Jim, Winfield, Cindy Wehkamp and husband, Paul, Cimarron, Cassy Sollecchio and husband, Jim, Aurora, Colo., Marsha LaMont and husband, Tom, Phoenix, Ariz., Janice Brewer and husband, Daniel, Marion, Ill.; a sister, Nadine McDonald and husband, Frankie, Erie; two stepdaughters, Beverly Burris, Huntington Beach, Calif., Sue Dougherty and husband, Max, West Covina, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Thyra Haffener; and a great-grandson, Blake Perry.
• Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the United Methodist Church, Meade. 
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. to sign the guest register Friday with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Memorials are suggested to the Beam Senior Center or the United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
