The Liberal Redskins proved their might Thursday afternoon at Redskin Field, when they outlasted the Dodge City Red Demons 1-0 in a physically taxing match.
The two teams proved to be evenly matched throughout the afternoon, with neither team having a clear advantage over the other.
One of the Redskins greatest assets this year has been their speed, and their ability to use it to get ahead on break aways. The Red Demons were able to keep up with Liberal however, and kept the Redskins relentless attack in check for a majority of the game.
With neither team taking clear control of the first half both teams went into halftime knotted up in a scoreless tie.
Liberal came out of the half as the more aggressive team, attacking the net at every opportunity.
The Redskins persistence finally paid off when when Liberal was able to get one by the Dodge City goalie in the 56th minute of play for the first and only goal of the game.
Despite the goal, the game still proved to be physical right down to the final minute.
Late in the game, both Samuel Cruz and Eliel Gonzalez received yellow cards for Liberal.
The win brings the Redskins overall record to 10-6 on the year, with a 4-4 record in conference play.
The Red Demons are now 10-3 overall and have a 4-2 record in the conference following the loss.
With the regular season over for the Redskins, they now prepare themselves for the regional playoffs, which will begin Monday.
