When some tragedy happens that brings out the usual suspects pushing gun control, you can usually predict two events locally.
1) An editorial by Larry Phillips and;
2) A letter from me.
To be fair, others have written letters. We even had a Second Amendment Rally and a banquet once a year to raise money.
But folks, one letter a year, one banquet a year, one rally a year is not enough. If our opposition is more vocal than we are, we cannot win.
Here is the challenge. What you allow to happen will happen. With a rifle and pistol club, a shotgun club and Friends of the NRA – that I know of – there should be a response here in Liberal that is heard loud and long.
I know that some of the membership overlaps, but only two voices heard in protest regularly means too many of us are sitting around letting the other guy do it.
Let’s be heard. Support your rights and be vocal about it before it is too late and they are lost.
If you are afraid protesting will put a target on your back, I have a flash for you – the target is there. It’s just that some of us refuse to go peacefully. After all, dying of old age is boring!
