The Lady Saints met the Garden City Lady Broncbusters Tuesday night in the Greenhouse in the first round of the Region VI tournament.
Seward County controlled the majority of the match, and came away with a closely-contested victory in four sets.
The opening set was filled with back-and-forth action, with both teams jockeying for an advantage.
For most of the set, the two teams battled in an attempt to pull away from the other, but neither team could seem to pull away from the other.
In the end it was the Lady Saints pulled just far enough ahead of the Lady Busters to take the set, 25-20.
The second set was much like the first, with neither team having a clear-cut advantage.
Garden pulled out to an early lead, only to see Seward grab it right back. The teams traded leads throughout the set.
Again, just as in the first set, the Lady Saints finished strong to win the set, 25-21.
The Lady Busters came out looking like a new team in the third set. Garden City controlled the set from the beginning, and led by as many as eight with the score 14-6.
Seward refused to give up, and came back to tie the set at 23-23.
With the serve, and a chance to put the match away, the Lady Saints could not capitalize. The Lady Busters took the next two points, and the set, 25-23.
The fourth set was never close.
Seward jumped out to a big lead early, and never took their foot off the gas.
The Lady Saints relentless attack was far too much for Garden City to handle, and Seward put the set and match to rest with a 25-10 victory.
The Lady Saints will now head to Hutchinson on Sunday to play in the Region VI final four, with a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament on the line.
