Shanise Brooks only took 13 shots Friday against the Central Methodist junior varsity in the Hutchinson Sports Arena, but she made 10 of them and added two free throws to lead the No. 19 Lady Saints to a 101-45 win and a perfect 6-0 start to the season.
Seward’s defense forced 23 turnovers and held Central Methodist to only 30 percent shooting.
Seward was hot from the field and from three-point range. Seward shot 54 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range.
If Seward’s offense had any cracks, it might have been the 56 percent from the free throw line, but the Lady Saints only attempted nine shots and made five of them.
Seward’s offense was intense in the first have, putting up 51 shots and to push the Lady Saints out to a 60-23 lead.
Seward only took 35 shots the second half but still connected on 54 percent of the (19) to add 41 more points while holding Central Methodist to 22 in the second half.
All eight Lady Saints scored in the 101-45 win.
The 56-point win was the largest margin of victory this season and the 101 points scored was the second highest point total (108 against Oklahoma Baptist JV Nov. 11).
Brook was able to do her 22 points of damage in the paint with only 24 minutes of playing time.
Brianna Scott scored 19, Alana Simon had 18, Korina Chapman added 13, and Kyndal Davis scored 10.
In other action at the Hutchinson Clinic Classic, No. 3 Hutchinson defeated San Jacinto 87-46. The Lady Blue Dragons moved to 7-0.
