WaterPark Experts Inc. has notified the city commission of its “inability to fulfill” its “obligation to complete the municipal pool project,” according to a brief press release from the city.
The release also noted, “The City of Liberal and Alamo Grid Construction of Mississippi LLC will assume the responsibilty and complete the project as presented to the community.”
Attempts to contact city manager Mark Hall were unsuccessful as of press time.
The commissioners had scheduled an emergency executive session at 5 p.m. Thursday, and after about 40 minutes, they returned to chambers and adjourned without any explanation of the session.
When asked this morning if the commission had to make a motion in public after the executive session and vote for approval to bring Alamo Grid Construction on board, commissioner Larry Koochel said the plan had been put together by city staff and the commission was simply informed how the project would proceed further and that no vote was necessary.
Mayor Joe Denoyer said everything would work out fine.
“Things will be completed as promised and as scheduled,” Denoyer said.
