The West seventh grade B team hosted Dodge City Monday afternoon, and decimated the visiting Cardinals in a 36-10 blowout victory.
Alondra Ochoa scored 14 points in the win, and Katiara Polvon chipped in with 12 points to lead the Warriors to the win.
West established their dominance early on, almost scoring at will against the over-matched Dodge City squad. The Warriors used their size advantage to build a 10-3 lead heading into the second quarter.
The Cardinals stepped up their effort on the defensive end in the second, but the Warriors continued their outstanding effort as well, outscoring Dodge City 6-5 to take a 16-8 lead into the half.
Ochoa led West in scoring at the half with six points.
The second half was Ochoa’s time to shine, as she put up eight of her teams 12 points in the third quarter.
Following her lead, the Warriors blew the game wide-open. West allowed only two Cardinals points in the third, and had a 28-10 lead heading into the final quarter.
The impressive second-half showing continued for the Warriors, outscoring Dodge City 8-0 in the final quarter to come away with the 36-10 win.
Ochoa added four more points in the quarter to give her 12 points in the second half. Polvon also finished with four points in the final quarter as well.
Lalia Garcia, Nevaeh Bess, Chloe Jennings, Maria Williams and Shay Wiltshire each had two points a piece in the game for West.
The Warriors will be at home again on Thursday to take on Kenneth Henderson. The B team game will tip-off at 4 p.m.
