Norma Jean Maxwell, 76, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover.
She was born July 27, 1937, the daughter of Sug and Nanie Dell (Copeland) Robinson, at Gorman, Texas.
She married Joel Glenn Maxwell  on Aug. 26, 1955, at Cisco, Texas.  He survives.
She was a 1955 graduate of Eastland High School in Texas. She had attended Ranger Junior College, Oklahoma Panhandle State University and Frank Phillips College. She graduated in 1988 with her degree in nursing.
She worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla., Southwest Medical Center in Liberal and Pioneer Manor in Hugoton.
She was active in church and taught Sunday school.
She also coached bowling league and was a den mother for Cub Scouts. Her hobbies were oil painting, ceramics, crocheting, sewing and crafts of all kinds with a lifelong hobby of researching genealogy. She enjoyed watching sports and playing basketball and softball.  She loved to fish, go camping, and RVing after retirement.
Other survivors include her son, Randall Lynn Maxwell, Moscow; daughter, Karen Cress and husband, Fred, Liberal; five grandchildren,  Jody Cress and wife, Christi, Nancy Nicole Douglas, Carissa Lynn Spears and husband, Israel, James Derrick Maxwell and Malissa Anne Denton; six great-grandchildren, Nancy Spears, Christopher Spears, Joel Cress, Kaden Gilmore, Waylon Douglas and Joseph Timmer, IV.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marcus Kynn Maxwell and a brother, Jerry Dale Robinson.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal. 
• Visitation in Eastland, Texas, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eastland Cemetery in Eastland, Texas, with Rev. Wayne Maxwell presiding.
Memorial are suggested to the Marc Maxwell Memorial Scholarship in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd  Liberal, KS 67901.
