An arcing three headed toward the basket and time stood still for just a second. But as the shooter hit the floor so did the shot clanking off the rim as the Tyrone Bobcats suffered their first loss of the season 65-62 at the hands of the Boise City Wildcats.

"It was a heartbreaker," Bobcats coach Clay Witt said.

Tyrone started the game well, and led by eight. Boise City was able to cut the lead back to just one by the end of the first quarter, 14-13.

It was Boise City's turn for a big run in the second, as the Wildcats went up 14 at one point. Tyrone was able to cut back into that lead but still trailed 37-31 at half.

"Boise City ran the floor real well and we were not getting back in transition," Witt said. "They had some success with a press against us. I think it caused us to not play composed at times. A lot of freshman and sophomore mistakes that will get you beat, especially on the road."

Tyrone still trailed by five after three quarters, but had cut it down to three by the end, but could not get the final shot to fall.

William Slater led the Bobcats with 18 points. Ethan Reese and Nerlin Rivera each added 16.

Tyrone (3-1) will host Hardesty, Thursday at 7:20 in the first round of the High Plains Tournament.
