The Turpin Cardinals got on the winning track with a stellar first half that led to a 49-26 win over the Booker, Texas Kiowas.

“We had good ball movement, ran good zone offense, and transitioned very well,” Cardinals coach Gary Wallace said.

Turpin controlled the game from the opening tip, racing out to a 20-4 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Turpin shutout the Kiowas 14-0 in the second to take a commanding 34-4 lead into halftime.

By the end of the third quarter, Turpin had expanded their lead to 35 (45-10).

Nine different players scored for the Cardinals led by Isaac Resindez who scored 13, including 7 in the first quarter. Jordon Lujan added 11, Kyler Musgrave 8, and Matt Young 7.

Turpin will face the Laverne JV team today that upset Shattuck in overtime.
